Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell announces the arrest of two Orangeburg couples and an Orangeburg man in separate narcotics investigations.
Ravenell explains "Based on an undercover investigation, officers conducted a search warrant on Wednesday at 2342 Whittaker Parkway. As officers entered the residence, they found Franklin Winds sitting on the edge of his bed out of breath. In the toilet in the Winds' bedroom, officers located a cigarette pack containing a clear plastic bag with crack cocaine in the bag and from the tank of the toilet officers located a loaded .38 caliber revolver.
In Lester Johnson's bedroom, officers retrieved a loaded 9 mm pistol that was reported stolen by this agency, a pair of Nike sneakers containing a plastic bag filled with 6 grams of crack cocaine in one shoe and $706 in the other shoe. Johnson made statements that he had only been living in the house 9 days.
As officers were concluding their search of the home, Wilbur Lee Oliver called Franklin Winds cell phone asking if he could purchase narcotics. Officers waited on Oliver to arrive and he was arrested for attempting to possess cocaine.
A second search warrant was executed at 1442 Goff Ave., the home of Edna C. Gore and Wilbur Lee Oliver. Cocaine was found in the home. Gore was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute near a school and distribution of cocaine."
Ravenell concludes "Some family businesses dont pay! Even though its a family business, it must still be legal."
Also seized from 2342 Whittaker Parkway was a .22 caliber rifle and $2,065 in currency.
Gloria Winds was not at the residence during the search warrant Wednesday afternoon, she was arrested Thursday morning.
