Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office arrested three men they say are responsible for ten separate burglaries from the North Road and Columbia Road areas dating back to June 2011.
According to investigators, 21-year-old Bryan Ryant, 22-year-old Jamie Douglas, and 25-year-old Ashton Robinson admitted to officers that they kicked in doors and stole electronics, jewelry, and even a glass jar filled with $5 in loose change. Investigators say the trio is responsible for more than $5,000 in damages and more than $72,000 in stolen property.”
“The arrest of these three men should put a dent in the number of burglaries that are taking place along North Road," said Sheriff Leroy Ravenell. “Our investigation indicates this group has been up to no good for several months and causing many homeowners to wonder if they will be next. We expect to be able to close more burglaries in the coming weeks based on the work of these individuals.”
“It is important that victims record the serial numbers on the items in their homes,” Sheriff Ravenell added. “It is rare that a property owner is able to provide an officer with the serial numbers of the items stolen after a burglary. These numbers are essential for us to not only return the property when it is located, but also to include it in a National Crime Database. The Sheriff’s Office has made home inventory sheets available on our website to assist you in recording the serial numbers of your property.”
This investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
Bond hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, May 1 at 2:30 p.m.
