The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of six people being killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, March 16, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, March 18, at midnight.
As of March 18th, 147 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 153 highway deaths in this same time period in 2011.
Of the 106 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2012, 69 were not wearing seat belts.
Through midnight March 18th, 23 pedestrians, 10 motorcyclists and four bicyclists have died on state roads and highways.
