According to the United Health Foundation’s America’s Health Rankings® Senior Report, South Carolina is ranked 36th  in the nation for Senior Health. The America’s Health Rankings Senior Report assesses state-level performance on 34 different elements, including both health determinants and health outcomes.

SC State University Board of Trustees Name  University’s 11th President, Thomas J. Elzey

 

SC State University’s Board of Trustees appointed Thomas J. Elzey as the 11th president of SC State University today. Elzey is currently employed by The Citadel. He serves as the executive vice president for Finance, Administration and Operations and The Citadel’s senior, non-academic vice president, holding the rank of brigadier general in the South Carolina Militia. Elzey will begin his duties on June 15, 2013.

“For SC State University, I see a very bright future,” stated Dr. Leonard A. McIntyre, interim chair for the College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences at the university and the first presidential candidate to meet the public. It was a full day of interviewing. McIntyre spent the morning meeting with the SC State Board of Trustees. Later in the day, he presented to faculty and staff, the student body and alumni and friends of the University. These forums allowed him to share his accomplishments and his plans if he were to become the president of SC State.

Local American Red Cross Board Chairwoman and former First Lady of South Carolina (1999-2003), Rachel Hodges, has been named a member of the National Council for the Tiffany Circle Society of Women Leaders.
