SC State panel meets to find interim president | News
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) - The committee screening candidates to be interim president of South Carolina State University will again go over the resumes of nearly two dozen candidates.
The committee is made up of university trustees, faculty, staff, alumni and students and will hold its second meeting Thursday.
The school is looking for an interim president after George Cooper stepped down in March after firing eight administrators, accusing them of failing to follow university rules and procedures.
The university named interim vice president for academic affairs Rita Teal as acting president. After finding an interim president, the university will turn its attention to hiring a person to run the school on a permanent basis.
