It will take more than $1 MILLION to get an Orangeburg man to hang up his hat.
“I’ve been working since I was 16,” said the South Carolina Education Lottery’s latest millionaire. “I’m not quitting now,” he added.
The winner, who did not wish to be identified, was on his work break when he bought two lottery tickets. One of the Diamond Millionaire 10th Anniversary tickets he scratched made him an instant millionaire.
He took the ticket and headed, not home, but back to work.
He told lottery officials until recently he had been working seven days a week. He’s not even considering a vacation. Instead, he’s sharing the winnings with his children and extended family.
“I’m blessed,” he said. “I’m just going to keep on living and working.”
The $10 Diamond Millionaire 10th Anniversary instant ticket went on sale January 3. The Orangeburg man is the second $1 million winner to come forward. As of this release, three more $1 million top prizes remain in the game. The odds of winning a $1 million top prize are 1 in 1,200,000.
Li’l Cricket #847 in Orangeburg received a commission of $10,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
