Moe’s Southwest Grill Sponsors First-Ever Burrito Dash 5K | Events
The Moe’s Southwest Grill franchisee group of Columbia is pleased to announce its inaugural Burrito Dash on Saturday, April 21 to benefit Epworth Children’s Home. Putting its own unique spin on a 5K race, Moe’s will provide a race friendly sized burrito to runners at the halfway point. Those brave enough to accept this tasty test of speed and endurance can register now at www.strictlyrunning.com.
The race begins at 9:00 am in front of the Moe’s Downtown/USC location on Main Street and winds around the state capital and through the USC campus. The top three male and female finishers will share cash prizes totaling $7,000. Epworth Children’s Home will be the overall winner gaining a $3,000 donation from Moe’s, which will offer a $500 donation in honor of each of the six winners.
The Burrito Dash is one of many charitable events Moe’s will be hosting as part of its pledge to invest $50,000 in the local community in 2012. Midland’s Moe’s franchisee owners, Chris Smith, Josh Snyder and Steven Taylor, have been supporting child-centered causes, as well as local schools and USC student organizations, since entering the market more than eight years ago. They currently operate six locations in downtown Columbia, Forest Acres, Lexington, Northeast Columbia and West Columbia.
“Runners don’t often have the chance to test their speed and strength while enjoying some Moe’s deliciousness,” said Smith. “Helping a cause as wonderful as Epworth Children’s Home just adds to the race day glory.”
Online registration is open until 2:00 pm on Friday, April 20, 2012. Runners can also register in person on race day. There is a $30 entry fee and participants will receive a Burrito Dash t-shirt along with a race packet.
