Deputies arrest man who stole grandma's wheelchair

 

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) - Investigators say they have arrested an Orangeburg man who stole money from his grandmother, along with her electric wheelchair.

           

Orangeburg County sheriff's deputies say 43-year-old Richard Fleener II will have a bond hearing Monday. He is charged with abuse of a vulnerable adult.

Deputies seek man who punched woman in face, pointed gun at her

Orangeburg County Sheriff deputies are looking for a 25-year-old Orangeburg man accused of physically assaulted his girlfriend.

Deputies were called to a home on Crosby Street on April 21 after 3 a.m. When they arrived, they observed the female victim with bruises and swelling to her face.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says the investigation indicates Michael Bryan Gadson pointed a shotgun at the victim and ordered her to get into the bath tub. Gadson then threatened the female’s life several times, the sheriff said.

The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying a man wanted for stealing from the Lowe’s store on North Road.

SCHP seeking info on hit and run that injured cyclist

 

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is seeking information about a hit and run collision that seriously injured a cyclist.

According to the report, on April 6 around 10:55 p.m., a vehicle traveling on US-21 near Atlantic Avenue in Orangeburg County struck a cyclist and fled the scene.

Officials have now identified a vehicle of interest in the hit and run.

Officials are searching for a 1997-2005 burgundy Buick Regal, which appears to have damage to the right front area near the headlight, fender, and mirror.

OCSO to conduct sex offender compliance check

Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell announces a multi-agency effort to verify the registered sex offenders in Orangeburg County.

 

Ravenell explains “This Sheriff’s Office is responsible for maintaining accurate records of 146 registered sex offenders. This week Deputy Sheriffs, Investigators, and members of the U.S. Marshal Task Force made contact with 130 offenders.

 

Officers will continue to follow up and investigate the location of the remaining 16 offenders, if we are not able to make contact, arrest warrants will be obtained.

Sheriff: Man arrested after assaulting woman in front of children

The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office arrested a Springfield man they say beat a 45-year-old woman with a piece of wood in front of their kids.

Deputies arrested and charged 40-year-old Michael Patterson with attempted murder.

According to the report, officers responded to a Skyland Drive home shortly after 1:30 p.m. on Sunday and located a woman lying on the ground with visible trauma to her face.

Deputies say Patterson was released from jail on Sunday for assaulting the victim in December 2012.
