Sheriff: Student tries to set classmate on fire | Crime
The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office arrested a teen they say tried to set her classmate on fire.
Deputies arrested 17-year-old Donna Pinckney.
Officers were dispatched to Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School in reference to a disturbance on May 9.
The report said Pinckney went into the victim’s classroom and threw perfume on her. Pinckney then lit a piece a paper and attempted to set the female student on fire.
When school officials questioned Pinckney she said "I was trying to kill her, I was going to send her to the devil," the report stated.
Pinckney was taken into custody and charged with first degree assault and battery, and carrying weapons on school property after deputies located a box cutter in her purse.
Deputies said the victim was not harmed, but found evidence that the she threatened to kill Pinckney on Twitter.
The victim was also charged with third degree assault and battery.
