Suspect in weekend sexual assault apprehended | Crime

The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office has located and arrested a man wanted in connection with the weekend sexual assault of a 20-year-old victim.

Dietrich Tremayne Funchess has been apprehended.

According to a press release, the victim was walking in the vicinity of Goff and Coleman streets when a male driving a black vehicle stopped the vehicle and asked if the victim needed a ride.

The victim responded “No.’ but investigators say Funchess produced a handgun and the victim got into the vehicle and was assaulted.

There is currently no word on a bond hearing for Funchess.
