Deputies: Carjacking suspect impersonates police officer | Crime
Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the community’s help in locating a Cross man they say beat a Eutawville man and stole his car.
The report said on Oct. 22 between 9 and 11 p.m., a 59-year-old Eutwaville man reported that he was driving toward Eutawville in his 2012 Suzuki SUV when a white pickup truck pulled up behind him and turned on flashing lights.
Deputies say once the victim pulled over, the suspect approached the vehicle asking the victim for his driver’s license. That’s when the victim says the suspect grabbed him and pulled him out of his vehicle, demanding money.
The report said Kevin Dameian Spann and two other men beat and kicked the victim before pulling off with his vehicle and leaving him on the side of the road.
Deputies say the victim’s vehicle was wrecked after a chase with Berkeley County officers.
According sheriff’s deputies, they consider this group of men extremely dangerous as they have impersonated a police officer, threatened, beaten, and robbed their victim, as well as getting into a chase with law enforcement. “These men need to caught before they hurt someone else,” said Sheriff Leroy Ravenell.
Anyone with information of Spann’s whereabouts is asked to contact Crimestoppers at 1- 888-CRIME-SC.
