Bond denied for man who shot at two people

Bond was denied Friday for a man who shot at a woman and man after being denied the use of the female's car early Friday morning.

Deputies were called to a home on Penn Rd. just after 2:15 a.m. According to deputies, 31-year-old Jermain Eric Halmon asked a woman to use her vehicle. When she denied him, he damaged the television, deputies said.

As the female victim was trying to leave with her children, investigators said Halmon refused to let the children go. The female victim left the residence and returned with another man. The male then asked Halmon to release the children and he allowed them to leave, deputies said.

As the man and woman were leaving the house, Halmon, according to investigators, grabbed a shotgun and fired in their direction. The two victims were not injured.

Once law enforcement arrived, Halmon refused to leave the home. When the SWAT team showed up, he left the house and was arrested without incident.

Halmon has been charged with two counts of attempted murder.

A judge denied bond Friday afternoon. Halmon is being held at the Orangeburg-Calhoun Regional Detention Center.
