Amazon hosting job fairs for seasonal workers | Business
ORANGEBURG, SC (WIS) - Amazon is hosting job fairs this month to hire hundreds of seasonal employees to work at its warehouse in West Columbia.
The first job fair is Thursday, November 7 at the Prince of Orange Mall, 2390 Chestnut Street in Orangeburg from 10 a.m - 2 p.m.
Another one is scheduled for November 15 at the National Guard Armory, 1225 Bluff Road, Columbia from 9 a.m. - noon.
The company expects to hire 40% more employees over last year's holiday season, creating more than 70,000 full-time seasonal jobs nationwide. Amazon officials say after the 2012 holidays, thousands of employees who were hired for seasonal positions became full-time regular employees, and they expect the same for this year.
For its regular, full-time fulfillment center positions, Amazon says it offers competitive hourly wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including healthcare, 401(k) and company stock awards.
Amazon also offers full-time employees innovative programs like Career Choice, where it will pre-pay up to 95 percent of tuition for courses related to in-demand fields, regardless of whether the skills are relevant to a career at Amazon.
