Sheriff: 14-year-old died trying to rob drug dealer

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WIS) - A young teenager is dead after he and his friends tried to rob a drug dealer, according to Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell.

The sheriff said the 14-year-old was shot when a shootout ensued during a drug deal in the Cordova area of Orangeburg County Monday night.

Investigators are not yet sure if the victim was shot by one of his friends or by the person they were trying to rob.

According to Orangeburg County Coroner Samuetta Marshall, Terek Wright died at the hospital from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Sheriff's Deputies in Orangeburg County arrested a man who led them on a chase through two counties with two kids in the vehicle.

Sheriff's Deputies say an off-duty officer saw 37-year-old Herman Johnson driving a stolen car toward Bamberg County.  When deputies in patrol cars tried to pull Johnson over, they say he refused to stop.

Deputies say once getting into Bamberg County, they forced Johnson to pull over.  Johnson ran from the car but deputies caught up with him.
